Technical Notes
- → Stainless 304 at 130A short-arc — the pool has a distinctly different surface tension behavior compared to carbon steel at the same parameters
- → Heat tint coloring on the stainless surface is visible in the long exposure — useful for assessing heat input and shielding gas coverage
- → Compare directly with the carbon steel 130A recording to see how material grade affects pool shape and wetting angle at identical electrical settings
Why this recording matters
MIG short-arc on thin stainless is used in food processing equipment and light chemical plant work. The reflective stainless surface creates glare that blinds most cameras. This recording shows that the dual-exposure approach handles the stainless reflectivity while keeping the pool border visible.
